Welcome to Seaful!
We are a UK charity helping more people to reconnect to the ocean and waterways, for their mental health benefits, and to nurture stewardship of our blue spaces.
The ocean is our planet’s life force, creating more than half the oxygen we breathe, providing food, medicine and mental health benefits to millions of people around the world. Rivers, running like arteries and veins through our lands, connect us all to the sea, and the one ocean connects us all globally. The ocean faces threats from climate change, biodiversity loss, plastic pollution and overfishing, yet there is a way that each and every one us can help protect it from these human-made threats. But without a personal connection to the ocean, we cannot expect people to care about it. Our mission is to help more people to find their own personal, meaningful connection to the ocean, one which supports their wellbeing, and encourages more stewards of our blue planet. We hope to help more people become mindful of the sea.

Empowering individuals and communities to become ocean advocates
“The Sea, once it casts its spell, holds one in its net of wonder forever.”
― Jacques Cousteau
The Vitamin Sea Project facilitates in-person experiences of our blue spaces. One in five children in the UK has never been to the ocean – we hope to change that. We know that being in nature, particularly around water, is beneficial for mental health, and we know that connecting to a place will make us more likely to protect it. Our sessions offer immersive, Seaful experiences to those who otherwise wouldn’t have the opportunity, and help empower beneficiaries to become ocean advocates in their own communities.
“The natural world is the greatest source of excitement. The greatest source of visual beauty. It is the greatest source of so much in life that makes life worth living.”
– David Attenborough
Vitamin Sea TV is our film series all about the ocean and waterways. We delve into human connection to the water, the ecosystems and creatures that live there, and how we can help protect the big blue.
“I like to envision the whole world as a jigsaw puzzle… if you look at the whole picture, it is overwhelming and terrifying, but if you work on your little part of the jigsaw, and know that people all over the world are working on their little bits, that’s what will give you hope.”
– Jane Goodall
We believe in individual and community action, from making positive changes to using your voice as an active citizen. We help empower people to be advocates for the ocean.
